Create a New Web Site in Microsoft Expression Web

To create a new website in Expression Web, just go to File --> New --> Website.  In the dialogue box that opens, choose the Web Site tab.  Now you have choices between General and Template.  Let's discuss the choices in the General tab.

General Options when Creating a New Web Site in Expression Web

Expression Web will give you a few different options choices

• One Page Web Site
• Empty Web Site
• Import Web Site Wizard

One Page Web Site

The One Page Web Site option will basically create the web site and the files that Expression Web helps to maintain the web site.  It will also create a default.htm file with a DOCTYPE - so more needing to go in to change the default template that Expression Web uses.

Empty Web Site

The Empty Web Site option will create a web site that can be maintained in Expression Web. 

Import Web Site Wizard

The Import Web Site Wizard will allow you to import a web site from another (remote) location.  This can be useful if you have a web site on the server and you would like to have a copy / back-up on your local computer
